A mobile app used in conjunction with energy management hardware developed by Matt Staniszewski. I worked on this for the University of Washington's Environmental Innovation Challenge, a competition for start-ups with a positive ecologic impact.

The team also included Danny Campton, Regina Luo, Mike Mao, Josh Scotland, Vijay Venugopalan, and Kelly Wang. Matt's hardware is a "smart hub" device that users plug their home appliances into, preventing "vampire" standby energy drain and allowing them to remotely monitor their appliances using the app. It has a handful of other features as well, including social network integration and practical tips on how to save power. The app also includes a personalized energy bill calculator that keeps track of the month's automation data, and users can see their current savings at any time.
